<p>We have been working on our van build out for a while now, slowly adding things that help with our efficiency and organization.</p>

<p> The very start of Glammer Hammer!</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/AP1GczOoLgYOuhqp_6h5SmBa8kPaMGUEx2CLAPmihcyQ2LIGujWr-YzE5wncIMJ3_aUM5ptQ3ezn39kFareMBYLRic3hOTIJhpTmJltqw1LF-4vFSIc6bVwkqGeuDJ0np7COFVi1TyqitQcQwl5p5m5aHaTCTQ=w693-h923-s-no-gm?authuser=0" alt="" style="width:312px;height:auto"/></figure>

<p>We added plywood flooring and moved the metal shelving to the side door for easy access.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/AP1GczMcF0PMsWPT8CtGTXrGFERh2K9xEnQ0v3XKm3kJPgArxCo83b5m3XqRy5Y0rqUPT6bDpGDWbf9U_P_Kd8P4OtEHS8Lc6RmJutW70x97PVraYaHonDXaOyJnpdAzjWSOBa4ycNw5u5RXlE_wYgX93sHiBw=w1229-h923-s-no-gm?authuser=0" alt="" style="width:346px;height:auto"/></figure>

<p>We found we needed a designated space for our ladders and break (for bending and breaking metal for flashing or drip edge) while still having space for large materials such as long pieces of wood, drywall, downspouts, or pieces of gutter. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/AP1GczOjwooAwLrNrKuvn7iLUJbwh09kjqiln2MtNXoVmU1ZRJU8JUTcpixGWGr9kA2yzgwM5bsYMrEGrZlBANAGA_yzuuwmjvuW8gFUg7SnCWhqPmhSf7JSYmw2kUg8Cdae7qY7N_cMpsjjOm5DGU5Lnrp_mQ=w693-h923-s-no-gm?authuser=0" alt="" style="width:352px;height:auto"/></figure>

<p>After we got our small tools, ladders, and break organized, we needed a place for the bigger tools that we use frequently because we couldn&#8217;t have them rolling around in the back of the van potentially causing damage to materials. We built a small box shelf to hold our bigger tools to get them off of the van floor.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/AP1GczMeXhLehjUdZg1dD4Y4CasKBlfN-bjGKcTaefL4R9l3D5UOQ5k0q4454NUh-KY89zrvTozusyWUR1xwG2MTsORZ4kq3JYK46pU19lX6fgU_QWrDWniKH64PNbcL4H0v0vGihAGh4Sag-l5xWat5om3tjQ=w693-h923-s-no-gm?authuser=0" alt="" style="width:366px;height:auto"/></figure>

<p>During a job working with fascia wrap and drip edge we needed a place to put the extra pieces that were a bit too long to put back in the box, so we added a long shelf on top of where we store our ladders at. We also added a caulk box for our extra caulk, work gloves, trash bags, and paper towels </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/AP1GczPa87v1BwA89NJrVsJhjnl2jGQF2A9eoDh4sif79_2IqLiV5LD9o6ant392zKgYZyhBvKs3vzlTBKaG8tqsjJZ6PxL8fCSBWEaNLL-HvREi1q3cODSpYAiCJpDHs6a6eccqpdlGfreW6TiSvdfpTEoMNw=w539-h923-s-no-gm?authuser=0" alt="" style="width:371px;height:auto"/></figure>

<p>Stick around with us to see new improvements we add to our beautiful Glammer Hammer van!</p>

<p>When we arrived at this customers house, she wanted us to replace all the existing rot on her back porch with new wood. Upon inspection, we found that one of the support posts was completely rotted, the other support post only has a small amount of rot happening, so we were able to cut it back to where the wood was good and build off of that. The roof rafters had a good amount of rot happening but still had enough of good wood to where we didn&#8217;t have to remove the rafters completely, the roof itself had a decent amount of rot to remove. The customer had already built a support structure to help hold the roof up.</p>

<p><a href="https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipPVP0OKpEE-8J6hyRmZ5fQOH-pVDrgpLDOsWtJt-ebrmbpgXZJC3WR3eDRccNZFIQ/photo/AF1QipOjOpS2coBZMiLIhKcZqDsqnxP9Zu2ys_fy5IWR?key=S1lOdi1PR3dVZTBxMTNVb3lQTlV6bW9jZnhIUTln"></a></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/AP1GczNNZ4eAxt9eNZwnlUI-hVII5wxIgWHqB3dR1zj6fL_uI-ynok6xLYI7y1IMO3SNIinxFQoMe9iO-74xOOm6HE2I8biWw1xEn3pRBg4bsGHSow_tcx6jLfUgs3-RN5ssqBqZJ0D-XUT5w-EyUQBYeU-aRA=w693-h923-s-no-gm?authuser=0" alt="" style="width:277px;height:auto"/></figure>

<p>We started with the support post so working on the roof would be a lot safer. After tearing down the worst of the two posts and the fascia board, we got to work on measuring, cutting, and rebuilding the post. The other post that needed work done to it just had a small patch job.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/AP1GczPkT40eL7GuyU4TnoVzAqe9lsrpiCcOt1csUtoiIao-J456RHaVveLXypoCUJK-ynnM6-MJzqsSx2oAtlWQOrN5CUF2pJGkC8dEUF_ynWF-FbYcgdyO24L5fbUsz9vAynuU118oz8oDKSdMO9HNA6wggw=w1229-h923-s-no-gm?authuser=0" alt="" style="width:395px;height:auto"/></figure>

<figure class="wp-block-image is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/AP1GczMP7pz2t13b4ZiJAXNXCwgx14vUFv5rM4SHoNyI4-M50oLEdL4LaLZYdV1nuska_zjbtYi7thtjRnJmw0iE-itqJ8LKBepd1Ihxx4cJOfUs8KtafKjUdkgKxdg_WTVKA-EJslWZJoSvY1BGTY55v5fRTA=w693-h923-s-no-gm?authuser=0" alt="" style="width:329px;height:auto"/></figure>

<figure class="wp-block-image is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/AP1GczPDB6RNM0pbPzFMkIucmHNUt2TT6uUBtmT6T1qjW3vorHi4wIwsittivSs2jkGDHzsPcLm7EdhhNPfXRUg7yYvZnsmk_fWrM2k_7hkmWcdKoyJjab43O4HrzIelcoak_JCxjonCD__j7UR8BX-uesnalQ=w693-h923-s-no-gm?authuser=0" alt="" style="width:329px;height:auto"/></figure>

<p>While working on the worst post we went ahead and replaced the rotted rafter tails with new ones, so the roof has even more support when we got up to work on it.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/AP1GczOemgcVdVSAK6LztAeKEcbkXF9YnWYSbcVt35OaYlppIzywuRvZn_RdxqeTQE-MRB0rFOi1k9-L0v_XVOIXBRsUa4c7tX-cq1LzpL2pjfDwrGfFrEXV5GqgYNdi2N6xdko8BIreAhqhDz4ogla3PICYKQ=w693-h923-s-no-gm?authuser=0" alt="" style="width:340px;height:auto"/></figure>

<p>Once we made sure everything below was secure, level, and supported we hopped up on the roof to fix the rot happening. We cut back the rot and replaced it with good wood and added drip edge around the roof for an extra measure of protection for the rain.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/AP1GczNwKXqj1MQGWfdsT55sbHYjdAF914sfnsX2d83UZPu-z-ZIWBMjnvDUYLEuRI8Fi5xEjL6kmMTBWwWrsXrWS8kpT1a-tMMD4Od9y6zkSgPL8MAPQw_ctT6oXTAE8xpZkK3HyHF-Os98tD_BqHEVhTwsfQ=w693-h923-s-no-gm?authuser=0" alt="" style="width:353px;height:auto"/></figure>

<p>The customer is having her husband add shingles to the top of the roof. If you are worried about having rotting wood around your house give us a call or email us and we can come out to you and give you a free estimate!</p>

<p>What signs should I look for? </p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Discoloration on fascia board and front of gutter</li>

<li>Cracking along foundation</li>

<li>Peeling paint on soffit</li>

<li>Kinks/Bellying along gutter</li>

<li>Nails backing out</li>

<li>Plants growing out of gutter</li>

<li>Exposed gravel at foundation</li>

<li>Water flowing over gutters</li>
</ul>

<pre class="wp-block-preformatted"></pre>

<p><strong>When it rains, it should NOT look like a water fall!</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="304" height="166" src="https://glammerhammer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Gutter-overflowing.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2629" srcset="https://glammerhammer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Gutter-overflowing.jpg 304w, https://glammerhammer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Gutter-overflowing-300x164.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 304px) 100vw, 304px" /></figure>

<p>When gutters overflow, there is a chance that water is getting inside the home where you can&#8217;t see it happening. If you haven&#8217;t watched your gutters in the rain, you can usually tell if they&#8217;ve been overflowing by seeing if there&#8217;s debris stuck to the front of the gutter.</p>

<p><strong>What are gutters FOR?</strong> Gutters are designed to channel the water to the ground gently and away from the foundation. Keeping the wood behind and below dry. <br></p>

<p><strong>What happens when they overflow?</strong> All that water pours heavily against the home and in some cases floods your basement. Gutters are the first line of defense for protecting your foundation and structure. When they aren&#8217;t flowing like they should, they cause a lot of rot and damage. </p>

<p>It&#8217;s an important responsibility as a homeowner to make sure your gutters are working. If you see water coming out of the downspout that&#8217;s good it means it&#8217;s not clogged, but it doesn&#8217;t speak for exposed or rotting wood hiding above the gutter. This is the type of attention we specialize in. </p>

<p>Gutters should be inspected at least once if not twice a year. We at Glammer Hammer care just as much as you do about your home and are willing to educate you about any of the problems that you didn&#8217;t know that are happening, if you see any of the warning signs occurring give us call or email us to get a free estimate.</p>
